EXHIBITION "AERODROMOS VALENCIANOS"

Exhibition on the aerodromes and other airport facilities located in the Valencian Community during the Civil War.

During the war, aviation was established as one of the most important elements in declining the balance. Faced with this situation and the insufficiency of existing infrastructures, a series of aerodromes were built throughout the Spanish geography.
The side loyal to the Republic was organized into seven air regions, which were subdivided by sectors.

The Valencian territory was included mainly in the
4th Air Region,
although certain regions were included in the 7th (that of Utiel-Requena) or the 2nd (the Vega Baja). From north to south around forty airfields were installed. Its function was, mainly, to serve as a base for the aviation that defended the infrastructures and cities of the coast, as well as to support the closest fronts, such as those of Teruel, Levante and the Ebro.
The purpose of the exhibition is to present these airport infrastructures in their context in relation to the conflict, making a vision of the aerodromes, showing their most representative elements, as well as the devices and the flying personnel; war from the air and bombing; both industrial and cartographic production of the territory; or the culture, art and memory that surrounds them.

The Demetrio Ribes Chair is the organizer of the exhibition, for which the Elda City Council, through the Department of Museums, has donated part of the facilities of the Footwear Museum.

The sample includes 14 thematic panels, two poster panels and photographs in various formats, as well as two screens also with posters.
