Children’s Christmas Postcard Contest “A Christmas that dreams of shoes,”

he Footwear Museum Foundation presents the Children’s Christmas Postcard Contest, an initiative that invites young participants to bring together two elements deeply rooted in the city of Elda: the magic of Christmas and the shoemaking tradition that has shaped its history and cultural identity for generations.

Under the slogan “A Christmas that dreams of shoes,” the contest encourages boys and girls aged 4 to 12 to become little ambassadors of Elda’s essence, portraying in an original illustration the relationship between the Christmas season and the world of footwear, an undisputed symbol of the character, effort, and creativity that define the city.

“We want children to draw Christmas from our local perspective; a Christmas that walks, that moves, that moves forward, just as the footwear industry in Elda has always done,” says Andrea Paños, Director of the Footwear Museum Foundation.

The contest is organized into three categories—Magic Boots, Creative Booties, and Dreaming Shoes—to group participants by age and recognize their artistic development. Each child may submit one single artwork in A4 format using any technique, from pencils and paints to collage or watercolor. Postcards must be delivered to the Footwear Museum, either in person or by mail, before December 18, 2025.

A jury made up of the Museum’s technical team will assess creativity, artistic quality, and the ability to integrate the Christmas theme with the world of footwear—a tribute to the industry that has given identity, employment, and international recognition to Elda.

One prize will be awarded per category and, in addition, one of the winning works will be chosen as the official Christmas 2025 postcard of the Footwear Museum, representing the city in its Christmas communications.

The award ceremony will take place on December 20 at 11:00 a.m., in an event designed to celebrate children’s talent and share with families a moment full of light and tradition. Likewise, the Museum may organize an exhibition with a selection of the submitted works, giving visibility to children’s creativity and to the cultural value of footwear as a living heritage of Elda.

With this contest, the Footwear Museum reaffirms its role as a cultural and educational reference and reminds us that Christmas is a path walked step by step… and in Elda, those steps always bear the mark of its shoemaking industry.
